The 50's Sucked!

I often ponder why I am so fixated on the 50's and early 60's. After all, life was not as idyllic as it was portrayed in the tv shows and ad campaigns of the times. When you get right down to it, it really wasn't a great time to be around at all. Some truly terrible things were going on, what with the Red Scare and McCarthyism and the constant threat of nuclear war and race riots and the Korean and Vietnam wars and ...

... the Cuban missile crisis and JFK's assassination and .... and....

...and basement bomb shelters, and .......and then there was that horrible time when..... when......

Damn. I SO need a time machine.

The 50's might have sucked, but the fashions were great. I have a poodle skirt, sweater set, penny loafers, and bobby socks. I wear them when my husband and I play the baby sitter, and the bad child game. After I give him a good spanking the sex is wonderful.

  2. I have just one question - do you have a sister? Or a like-minded friend? lol

I'd like to think there are a lot of wives like you in the world. Thanks for sharing.

  3. It was also a time of trying to free ourselves from oppressive conformity. So much of the freedom of expression we enjoy today was then not possible or possibly dangerous. But as a spanko, yes, they were the fabulous 50's. :)

    1. true enough - even given the technology, a blog like this one would not have been possible.

  4. I was born in the 50s so only know them from pictures like this. These pix show women posed and dressed so you can't see everything, just sneak glimpses if that. Thanks.

  5. I recognize a lot of these women, of course, but not ALL of them. I'd LOVE to know, for instance the lady with the major hooters in pic # 2. Dayum!

    1. I wasn't around then, but there are times I genuinely wish I had been.

  8. Following Ellen's theme, it was a time when a boy could still expect misbehavior to earn him a session pants down and bottom up over the knees of his mother/sitter/schoolteacher. That make up for a lot
