Vintage Illustration

Any fans of Mad Men know that the 50's and 60's were the heydays of American advertising.  At the same time, the era also witnessed the beginning of the slow demise of story illustration in popular magazines. The women in the ads were as over-idealized as they are today, either as content little domestic housekeeper...

or at best, sophisticated lady about town...

Mind you, if she got the chance to get all dressed up for the evening, she wouldn't appreciate hubby screwing it up by getting a flat tire. This might earn him a reddening of his ears at least (though his body language suggests he might prefer  his butt reddened)...

She might even decide he needed to appreciate how much hard work housekeeping really is...

But, alas, no spanking.
So - as a fan of retro illustration, as well as retro spanking, I thought it would be fun to attempt an ad illo that at least had a sneaky suggestion of spanking attached to it...

It would make me want to run out and buy a new hairbrush.
Or three.

YAY! I was wrong!

Contrary to my previous post, 'Ma'am, Yes, Ma'am' is NOT gone for good!

I just received this note from Tom:

"thank you all very much....I am deeply humbled by your kind words. I did not take it down, it was removed by Google. I was on a business trip when I got a text from a lady friend asking why I had deleted it! I was not able to verify or address the issue until I got home. I have been working on it all night. I was just informed by Google that my blog was "flagged" as spam by automated spam tracking software. I am currently in the process of trying to have the blog unlocked! Hopefully you will see it back up and posting again in the very near future. Thanks again for your kind words and most of all, your support! :)"

We are all looking forward to your return, Tom!

Farewell to a Great Blog

I was saddened to note that one of the perennial FM spanking blogs has vanished.  'Ma'am, Yes, Ma'am' has shut its doors, without even a farewell notice. The blogmaster, Tom, in his last post, mentioned getting a new job which required a lot of traveling, and not much time left over for blogging. So we can only hope this is the reason and that he is on his way to exciting new ventures.

If you're out there reading this, Tom, I wish you all the best in your endeavors and hope to see you back in the Blogoverse again someday.

Fuzzy Sweater

Not sure why, but gals in sweaters have always had an appeal for me - maybe because they look so cuddly in them, or maybe it's because they look as equally appealing rolling up those sleeves and getting down to business on a man's backside.

Hm. Maybe it's both.

A few more sweater lovelies (some of whom I'm sure you'll recognize) who would make excellent spankers....

Gretchen Mol as Bettie Page in a 50's sweater and offering an invitng lap - life is good.
